Bruce Hills was named the head coach of the men's and women's cross country teams at Warren Wilson College in 2011. Hills enjoys working with his athletes and the constant learning process involved with developing the team and himself. A native of New Zealand, Hills has always liked the outdoors and gained his passion for running when he started training for Rugby in 1976. Since then, he has run numerous distance races from 5K runs to marathons highlighted by a 5th place finish in the 1989 two day Coast to Coast Multisport event held in the South Island of New Zealand.
Prior to settling in Asheville, Hills traveled extensively and has a significant amount of international work experience including: leading rafting expeditions in the United States, New Zealand, Australia, Austria, Africa, Turkey and Nepal; working for various Outward Bound Schools in New Zealand and the US; and working on and delivering sail boats in the Mediterranean and Caribbean. Bruce continues to enjoy the outdoors and still loves to run and bike. His family includes his wife Susan and their daughter Lucie.
Marisa ran cross country until choosing to focus on soccer in college. She is back to running and enjoying training for ultramarathons and triathlons. Marisa graduated from East Tennessee State University with her Masters in Sport Science and Coach Education and is currently working as a strength and conditioning coach and Exercise Science teacher.
